Kayseri is a large and culturally rich city located in Central Anatolia, Turkey. It's one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with archaeological evidence dating back more than 5,000 years. Mount Erciyes, also known as Erciyes Dağı in Turkish, is the highest mountain in central Anatolia, with its summit reaching 3,916 meters above sea level. It's located approximately 25 kilometers to the south of Kayseri. Erciyes is a stratovolcano, meaning it was formed by many layers of hardened lava, tephra, pumice, and volcanic ash. Although it's not currently active, its shape clearly shows its volcanic origin. One of the most popular activities on Mount Erciyes is skiing. The Erciyes Ski Resort offers numerous ski runs for all levels from beginners to advanced skiers and snowboarders. The ski season usually starts in November and lasts until April depending on snow conditions. In addition to winter sports, Mount Erciyes offers opportunities for mountaineering and trekking during the summer months. The views from the top are breathtaking and well worth the climb!
